Pinole is a main staple of the Tarahumara indians. The Tarahumara are the most amazing athletes on the planet, and cannot be beat in distance running even by today’s super athletes. But don’t take my word for it, read this amazing book to see for yourself!

Drink Recipe:

Put about 1/2 cup of Pinole in a frying pan. Use a spatula and turn it over on low to medium heat for about 6 minutes, being careful not to burn it. It should be a medium brown color when you are done.

While you are heating the Pinole, boil some water.

Mix the heated Pinole in a bowl with honey and cinnimon. Use as much or as little as you like.

Put about 3 splendas in a durable plastic cup.

Add the mixture to the glass first.

Pour in the boiling water and stir it up.

This stuff retains heat, so I would suggest putting the cup in the refrigerator for a while to cool it down before drinking.
