Category Archives: I’m thankful for

Just what are you thankful for? Do you have to wait for thanksgiving, or endure some major tragedy to think about it? Sometimes it can be when I look at my kids, when I accomplish something at work, or it can simply be a smile from a friend or family member that gets me thinking about it.

Here is a short list. It is definitely not an all-inclusive list, but it’s a short list to get the thoughts flowing.

I’m thankful for:

My awesome family and a wife that sticks by me no matter what.

My kids. They make life worth living.

My life. I’ve come so close to death, so many times in my youth, and I’m so very thankful that I’ve been given multiple second chances.

I’m thankful that my teenage son is a good person, and doesn’t do most of the stupid things I did as a kid.

For facebook. I’ve reconnected with so many good friends I would have otherwise lost contact with forever.

I’m thankful for having two arms and two legs. Some people don’t have either and they face challenges (and overcome things) I couldn’t fully imagine.

I’m thankful for exercise. I love it. It helps relieve some of the tensions of everyday living.

Margaritas! But, they HAVE to be Patron margaritas.

Women. They are truly beautiful creatures inside and out. I appreciate them, although I will never fully understand them.

College. It made me question everything. I still question everything. I’ll never stop.

I’m thankful for people that disagree with me.

I’m thankful for challenges.

Water! I love to swim in it, float in it, listen to the sounds it makes; we’re made of water, how could I not be thankful for it?

Nature. It’s awe-inspiring to look out into the night sky when you’re camping miles away from civilization.

My parents, for doing the best they could.

Music and the emotions it can elicit.

Warm weather, and the fact that I live in a warm place.

Animals, but dogs in particular. They love you no matter what.

I’m thankful that I quit smoking.

I’ve apologized to some of the ex-girlfriends that I’ve treated badly. I’m thankful that some of them have accepted my apology.

I’m thankful I have good friends; so good in fact that I have no doubt they would risk their lives to run into a burning building to save me, and they know I would do the same for them.

Fast cars!

That my advice has been able to help people, and that I have been an inspiration to some people as well.

I’m thankful for friends, family and mentors who have been an inspiration to me.

PHP! It’s the best programming language ever.

My FICO score and for living debt free!

Good books (mostly how to and informational books; I’m not that into fiction).

That we are enduring and surviving in this dismal economy.

That my mom always made me brush my teeth and I have never had a cavity.

For being 6’3″ 🙂

That I have run my own business. I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything.

Peoples’ generosity.

My health… so far.

For CHEESE!!! And cottage cheese, sour cream, milk, buttermilk and all dairy products! Yum!

Speed Racer. The original cartoon. That was the greatest thing ever when I was 5 years old.

I’m thankful that my dad took me on Jeep trips and that I learned how to drive a stick when I was 5.

Arnold Schwarzenegger. I loved his movies as a kid and the things he overcame to become the world’s greatest bodybuilder, a movie star, and a real estate mogul (and eventually the Governor of California) were an inspiration to me.

Having a brother. Life would have been pretty boring without him.

Roller coasters

The Internet

And for being able to share my life with somebody special. I’m also thankful to Google, because that is how we re-connected; she “Googled” me!

These are just some of the things I am thankful for. It’s hard to think when a 20 month old is running around making noises… but I’m thankful for that too!
